3 Creative Ways to Remind Your Guests to Save the Date

save the date

With new technologies enhancing our business and personal lives, it sometimes feels like life has never been busier. Whether it’s a wedding, birthday, anniversary, baby shower or any other celebrations, you don’t want to be just another appointment on your guests’ calendar. You need a way to be heard over the noise of everyday life while taking the opportunity to the stage for the tone and theme of your day.

Videos and emails are great, but if you really want to keep your event front of mind, you need to send something physical. And the more memorable the better. This week, we have three creative ways to lock your big day into your guests’ memories and make sure they don’t schedule any messy conflicts.

Stick it to ‘Em!

No save-the-date method is foolproof, but magnets are a time-tested method proven to work. What better way to keep your big day front-and-center than posted prominently on your guests’ fridges? Whether the magnets boast a simple design, a photo or even a funny poem, your reminder will engage your guests and help keep their calendars clear.

Plant Your Reminder

If you really want to think outside the box, take a look at plantable paper. A reminder that the environmentalists on your guest list can appreciate, plantable paper is biodegradable “eco-paper” made from existing materials. Trees may be a renewable resource, but that’s no reason to cut them down unnecessarily!

Inside the paper are seeds, and when the paper is planted in soil, the seeds grow and the paper wastes away. Where once stood your save-the-date reminder now grows a lovely floral arrangement! What could be better than that?

And even if they don’t plant the paper right away, they’re unlikely to throw it away, so the reminder works both ways!

Keep it Clean

A lot of save-the-date ideas center around the kitchen. It’s true, we do spend the most time there than any other room in the house. Tea towels enjoy the same advantages as magnets in that they’re likely to be in front of guests for the entire time leading up to the event, but an added benefit is that they have practical uses as well.

A tea towel with the details of your event printed on it can be put to actual work in the kitchen and used forever. Some companies even offer screen-printed designs that are quite elaborate! Certainly not the cheapest option for a save-the-date, but definitely one of the coolest.

Your main objective, of course, is to clearly communicate the date of your event to the family and friends you want there. But there’s no reason not to have a little fun with it!
